These are the terms for joining Ālaya. They are written to be read. If anything is unclear, email us at info@alaya.quest.
Who we are
Ālaya is a practice-based community started by Joel Gruber and run with his partner, Tadzio Dlugolecki. When these terms say “we,” they mean the two of us.
Applying
You apply with your name, your email, the plan you would like, and an answer to one question. We read every application and decide who joins each class. Applying does not guarantee a place.
Your card and when you are charged
- After you apply, Stripe asks for a card. Nothing is charged that day.
- If you are accepted, your first month is charged the morning the class opens. For the Class of October ’26, that is Monday, October 26.
- If you are not accepted, you are never charged, and your plan cancels on its own.
- After the first charge, you are billed on the same day each month.
Plans and cancelling
- Six Months ($65 a month) is a six-month commitment, billed monthly. You can set your plan to end after the six months from Settings inside Ālaya.
- Try a Month ($80 a month) and Founding Member ($100 a month) have no commitment. Cancel any time, and the plan ends at the close of the month you have paid for.
- If you think a charge is wrong, email us and we will look at it with you.
The practice is not therapy
Ālaya is a spiritual practice and a community. It is not therapy, medical care or a treatment program, and it does not replace them. You can skip or change any practice. If something gets heavy, tell us and we will help you find support. In a crisis in the US, call or text 988.
Being part of the class
- Treat the people in your class with care. What someone shares on Sunday or on Ālaya IM stays in the class.
- Your account is for you. Please don’t share your sign-in.
- If someone makes the class unsafe for others, we may remove them.
The material
The readings, recordings and meditations are written and recorded for Ālaya. They are for your own practice. Please don’t copy, sell or publish them.
Changes
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and tell members by email before the change applies to them.
